Restorative Care Pathway
A short, focused burst of support designed to help you build strength, function and independence — for example after a fall, an illness or a hospital stay.
What it includes
Restorative care funds allied health and/or nursing services only. It must be delivered by a multidisciplinary clinical team. It is not for personal care or domestic assistance — those continue to come from your ongoing Support at Home budget if you have one.
- Physiotherapy and occupational therapy
- Exercise programs and falls prevention

How long it lasts
A single restorative care episode runs for up to 16 weeks. Most people complete the episode within that period once they reach their goals. A second unit of funding (up to $6,000 more) can be approved within the same 16-week episode if your needs require it, subject to assessor approval.

Can I get it alongside my ongoing budget?
Yes. Restorative care runs alongside your ongoing Support at Home budget — it doesn't replace it. The one rule is that the services funded through each stream must address different needs and outcomes, so you're not paying twice for the same thing.
How it's funded
Your Restorative Care budget is used first; grandfathered HCP unspent funds are used next if it runs out. Care management during a restorative episode is billed directly against the Restorative Care budget. Try the funding tool →
