Ongoing Support Budget
This is the budget that does most of the work — it funds the regular, everyday care and services that help you keep living independently at home.
What it includes
Your Ongoing Support Budget covers the regular services in your care plan, such as:
- Personal care — help with showering, dressing and grooming
- Domestic assistance, cleaning and shopping support
- Nursing and allied health (such as physiotherapy)
- Transport and social support
- Meal preparation
Good to know
Clinical services like nursing and allied health are fully funded by the government, with no contribution from you. Everyday living services such as cleaning may attract a contribution based on your income and assets.
Why you have this budget
An aged care assessment looks at how much help you need and places you in one of eight funding classifications. The higher your assessed need, the larger your budget. Annual funding runs from roughly $11,000 at Classification 1 up to about $80,000 at Classification 8.

Your annual amount is split into four equal quarterly budgets, released in July, October, January and April. You can use the full quarter's amount from the start of that quarter.

Care management comes out of this budget
Around 10% of each quarterly budget is set aside for care management — the planning and coordination that keeps your services on track. The remaining 90% is available for your direct services.
