From confusion to confidence: Improving the aged care journey

At Trilogy Care, we believe in empowering older Australians to remain in the home they love. But for many older Australians, accessing the care they need to stay there feels confusing, restrictive, and out of their hands.
We set out to change that.
Founded in 2020, Trilogy Care assists older Australians in taking control of their aged care, staying connected to their communities, and living with more confidence and independence. Through Self Managed Home Care Packages, we help people get more care hours, more choice, and more say – all while remaining in the place they love most: home.
How Trilogy Care began
Our story starts in Far North Queensland, where James Whitelaw was helping his parents-in-law, Peter and Inese, navigate the aged care system.
They'd been approved for Home Care Packages but lived on a rural property, far from family. After speaking with national providers, James was shocked to learn that a $24,000 annual package would offer just 5.5 hours of care a week.
As an accountant, James did the maths and found a better way. By exploring Self Managed options, the family was able to double their weekly care hours, choose local carers, and build lasting, trusted relationships essential for Inese, who was in the early stages of dementia.
“We went from 5.5 to 12 hours of care per week; with people they knew and trusted”
James Whitelaw, Founder
That experience lit a fire. In 2020, James founded Trilogy Care to help other families access the same control, transparency, and dignity his own family had found.

Trilogy Care has grown into one of Australia’s leading Home Care Package providers, supporting more than 11,000 clients with a network of 10,500+ service providers and more than $400 million in managed funding.
Backed by a national team of 250+ professionals, we help clients self-manage their care, choose who supports them, and make the most of every hour and dollar. Many of our clients access more care hours than traditional providers, all without sacrificing personal choice. We’re proudly helping more people age well, stay connected, and feel in control.
Paula Duncan: “As I get older, I get stronger“

We're proud to have Paula Duncan, one of Australia's most recognised actors and a passionate advocate for positive ageing, as Trilogy Care's brand ambassador.
With a career spanning more than four decades, Paula has become a household name through her roles in Cop Shop, The Young Doctors and many others. She's the recipient of eight Logie Awards, the Executive Woman of the Year for Contribution to the Arts and Community, and a nominee for the Australia Day Award.
Beyond her work in entertainment, Paula is a long-time supporter of causes that empower and uplift. She serves as an ambassador for WomenCan, the Focus on Ability Film Festival, NOVA Employment, and the Australian Gynaecological Cancer Foundation, always championing those facing life's most significant challenges.
Now, her focus is on aged care, and she's chosen to partner with Trilogy Care because our mission aligns with her own journey.
“I've always said that as I get older, I get stronger. I've partnered with Trilogy Care because they help people like me enjoy the process of ageing.”
- Paula Duncan
After experiencing a serious accident at home, Paula needed support, including rehabilitation, mobility equipment, and transport to appointments. Trilogy Care helped coordinate her care, keeping her strong, safe, and independent through her recovery.

“Trilogy Care is the perfect organisation to provide these services – they organised transport to appointments and medical advice when I needed it. This has allowed me to remain strong and independent,” Paula said.
She brings more than visibility to our brand; Paula brings lived experience and a deep passion for changing the narrative around ageing. With Paula's voice and story, we're helping more Australians understand that Self Managed care isn't just practical, it's empowering.
Through upcoming community events, video content, and educational campaigns, Paula will play a key role in sharing what self-management can look like for older Australians and why it's a model built on trust, flexibility, and freedom.

Trilogy Care was established to challenge the traditional model of home care and offer greater choice to older Australians. Our approach to self-management means participants can take an active role in their care, supported by a registered provider. However, the availability of services, funding arrangements, and provider responsibilities may change as aged care policy is updated.
As one of Australia’s leading Self Managed providers, Trilogy Care helps participants get more care hours by reducing unnecessary fees and offering greater transparency. We focus on empowering individuals to coordinate their own services, but it remains essential to confirm all relevant details before selecting a care model.
