Empowering villages – local champions and the Support at Home future
3 Nov 2025

As more retirement villages across Australia embrace Support at Home, one thing is clear: local leadership is changing how care is delivered and how communities stay strong.
Village champions
Village champions are trusted residents or staff who help their neighbours understand Support at Home funding and get started with self-management through Trilogy Care. They show clients how to budget well, engage local care workers, and get full value from their plan; more care hours from the same funding, with more choice and control.
On Flinders Island, one champion has taken on this role for her village. She helps residents set up their funding, choose providers, and make the most of every service. She also acts as a booking coordinator, arranging group services where possible. Her contribution is recognised with appropriate service fees, and her impact is felt across the community.
“It’s not just about care,” she says. “It’s about knowing who to ask, having help nearby, and making sure no one misses out.”
It’s about community
That community knowledge is powerful. In Cairns, Smithfield and Earlville villages have seen success with coordinated Hoy games and cleaning services. In Mackay, Cascade Gardens residents regularly team up to arrange transport and food preparation using pooled funding. When people coordinate, they don’t just save money, they solve problems together, answer each other’s questions, and get better results from their care plan.
Trilogy Care’s role
Trilogy Care backs these champions with practical training, compliance support, and dedicated care partners. We help activate every dollar each quarter, reduce complexity, and keep services reliable and local. The result is stronger engagement and smarter care delivery.
Support at Home isn’t only about aged care - it’s about community-led solutions that empower older Australians to live with purpose and the support they choose.
