Choosing who comes into your home matters. So does finding support that fits your routine and makes good use of your care funding.
Self-management gives you a say in your workers, your services and the rates you agree to pay. But getting started can bring questions: where do you find suitable workers? What should you pay? Who makes the first bookings?
Trilogy Care's free concierge setup service helps with those first steps. During your first month, we help find workers who suit your needs, negotiate rates and arrange your initial services with your approval. You keep the choice, with practical help to put it into action.
A helping hand in your first month
Concierge is a free, one-off setup service for people starting self-management with Trilogy Care. It can be especially useful if you're moving from a fully managed provider or helping a family member organise their care.
We work through the available options with you, taking account of the support you need, your preferences and your budget. The aim is to make getting started simpler, so you can move from considering your options to putting your first services in place.
Here's how it works
- Find suitable workers. We help look for workers who match your care needs and preferences.
- Discuss the rates. We help negotiate prices that work for your services and budget.
- Get your approval. You review the proposed workers, rates and arrangements before agreeing.
- Book your initial services. Once you're happy, we help put those first bookings in place.
The free offer covers this setup help. Your care services still have their agreed prices, and usual Support at Home funding and contribution arrangements apply. Start dates depend on your needs and worker availability.
Your care partner stays with you
Trilogy Care's care partners have always supported clients with their care plans and budgets. The new concierge service adds practical help with initial setup.
With your regular services in place, you can settle into receiving care at home. You keep control of your workers and arrange any day-to-day changes with them, with your care partner continuing to help with your care plan and budget.
Trilogy Care continues to manage the financial administration, including paying approved service invoices. If your needs or circumstances change, your care partner can help review your plan and budget. You can also talk with us about the level of support that suits you.
Your self-management arrangements should reflect your needs, preferences and ability to manage them. Read about Trilogy's ongoing self-management support.
Why the price of each service matters
Being able to choose local workers and agree on rates gives you more control over the cost of your services. Lower hourly prices can make room for more approved support within your budget.
For services that attract a personal contribution, a lower price can also reduce the amount you pay for the same hours of support. Your contribution percentage is set through the government's assessment arrangements. The dollar amount depends on the price of the service.
Self-management does not remove any personal contributions you are required to pay. See the government's contribution guidance.
A simple cleaning example
Suppose your weekday cleaning currently costs $110 an hour, and you agree to a final price of $66 an hour through self-management.
At a 17.5% personal contribution rate, the standard full-pensioner rate for cleaning (different arrangements may apply to you):
| One hour of cleaning | Service price | Your contribution |
|---|---|---|
| Illustrative current price | $110 | $19.25 |
| Example self-managed price | $66 | $11.55 |
| Difference | $44 lower | $7.70 less |
For a two-hour cleaning visit, that means a total service-price difference of $88 and a personal-contribution difference of $15.40. The contribution saving is included within the total price difference.
The $110 rate is an illustration. The $66 figure is Trilogy Care's most common self-managed weekday cleaning price for July to August 2026, including the self-management loading. Your agreed price may differ according to your location, needs and chosen worker. View Trilogy's published service prices.
Understanding costs and contributions
Under Support at Home, the usual 10% quarterly allocation for care management still applies when you self-manage. Read the government's self-management guidance.
Some people have different contribution arrangements, including protections carried over from the Home Care Packages program. Clinical supports have no participant contribution. Check the costs and contribution arrangements that may apply to you.
Since 1 October 2026, approved personal care, such as help with showering and dressing, is also contribution-free where Support at Home funding is available. Read about the personal-care contribution change.
Your care partner can help you understand how your service prices and assessed contribution rates fit into your budget.
